Create license options

Learn how to create beat license options, define prices, attach files, and control what customers receive after purchase.

Create license options

License options allow you to sell the same beat with different prices, file access, and usage rights.

For example, you can offer a simple MP3 lease, a WAV license, a stems package, or an exclusive license for the same beat.

Why license options matter

A beat is not only an audio file. It is a product with rights, permissions, restrictions, and delivery rules.

License options help you define:

  • what the customer can buy;
  • how much each license costs;
  • which files are included;
  • what usage rights are allowed;
  • whether a license document should be generated;
  • whether a beat can still be sold after purchase.

Clear license options make your store easier to understand and help customers choose the right offer.

Common license structure

A typical beat store can include license options such as:

  • MP3 Lease;
  • WAV Lease;
  • Unlimited Lease;
  • Stems License;
  • Exclusive Rights.

You can adapt the names and terms to your own business model.

Step 1: Open the beat editor

In your WordPress dashboard, open Banaslap Studio and edit the beat you want to configure.

Go to the license section.

This is where you create and manage the available license options for that beat.

Step 2: Add a license option

Create a new license line and give it a clear name.

Good license names are easy to understand.

Examples:

  • MP3 Lease;
  • WAV Lease;
  • Stems License;
  • Exclusive Rights.

Avoid vague names if the customer cannot immediately understand what they include.

Step 3: Set the price

Enter the price for the license.

Each license can have a different price based on the value of what it includes.

For example:

  • MP3 Lease can be the entry-level option;
  • WAV Lease can cost more because it includes higher quality audio;
  • Stems License can cost more because it includes trackouts;
  • Exclusive Rights can be the highest price because the beat is sold with exclusive usage rights.

Step 4: Choose included files

Attach the files that should be delivered with each license.

For example:

  • MP3 Lease: MP3 file;
  • WAV Lease: MP3 and WAV files;
  • Stems License: MP3, WAV, and stems;
  • Exclusive Rights: all available files.

Make sure each license gives access only to the files that belong to that license.

This prevents customers from receiving files they did not purchase.

Step 5: Define usage terms

Each license should clearly explain what the customer can do with the beat.

Usage terms may include:

  • streaming rights;
  • YouTube use;
  • monetization;
  • music video use;
  • live performance;
  • commercial use;
  • distribution limits;
  • credit requirements;
  • resale restrictions;
  • exclusive or non-exclusive rights.

The clearer your terms are, the fewer support requests and disputes you will have later.

Step 6: Enable or disable license generation

If license generation is enabled, Banaslap Studio can automatically create a license document after purchase.

This document is based on the selected license, the beat, the customer, and the order.

If you do not want to generate a license document for a specific setup, use No License mode.

No License mode disables the generated license PDF, but file delivery can still work.

Step 7: Save and test

After configuring your license options, save the beat.

Then open the beat on your public store and test the customer flow.

Check that:

  • the license modal opens correctly;
  • all license options appear;
  • prices are correct;
  • selected licenses update the total;
  • checkout opens correctly;
  • the correct files are delivered after purchase;
  • the license document is generated when enabled.

Exclusive licenses

If you sell exclusive rights, decide what should happen after the exclusive sale.

Depending on your setup, you may want to:

  • mark the beat as sold;
  • keep the beat visible but disable purchase;
  • remove the beat from the public catalog;
  • keep previous non-exclusive purchases valid.

Banaslap Studio can support sold or unavailable states so customers do not buy a beat that should no longer be sold.

Best practices

Keep your license structure simple at first.

A good starting point is:

  • MP3 Lease;
  • WAV Lease;
  • Stems License;
  • Exclusive Rights.

You can always expand your licensing system later.

Do not create too many license options if it makes the buying decision confusing.

Starter and Pro

License options are included in both Starter and Pro.

Starter includes the full license system with basic analytics and a 10% Banaslap commission on beat and membership sales.

Pro includes the full license system with advanced analytics, 0% Banaslap commission on beat and membership sales, and a 1% service fee per successful transaction, excluding Stripe processing fees.

Troubleshooting

If a license option does not appear on the public store, check that:

  • the beat is published;
  • the license option is enabled;
  • the price is valid;
  • the license has not been disabled;
  • the beat is not marked as sold or unavailable.

If customers receive the wrong files, check the file access settings attached to each license.

If the license document is missing, check whether license generation is enabled or whether No License mode is active.
