Set up Private Drops

Release selected beats privately to specific membership plans or customer groups.

Set up Private Drops

Private Drops let you release selected beats to specific members instead of making them available to everyone.

This is useful for limited releases, exclusive member campaigns, premium subscribers, private catalogs, or special drops reserved for your most valuable customers.

Before you start

Make sure you have:

  • installed Banaslap Studio;
  • activated your Banaslap Studio license;
  • created at least one membership plan;
  • uploaded at least one beat;
  • configured license options for that beat;
  • decided which members or plans should receive access.

How Private Drops work

A Private Drop is a beat that is only available to selected members or membership plans.

Depending on your setup, eligible members may be able to:

  • see the beat in the store;
  • play the preview;
  • choose a license;
  • add the beat to the cart;
  • buy the beat;
  • access downloads through their customer dashboard.

Visitors who are not eligible should not see the private beat in the public catalog.

Private Drops vs VIP Early Access

VIP Early Access is usually used before a public release.

Private Drops are more restrictive. They are designed for beats that should stay private, limited, or reserved for specific members or plans.

Use VIP Early Access when you want members to access a beat before everyone else.

Use Private Drops when you want only selected members to access the beat.

Step 1: Choose the membership plan

In your WordPress admin, open **Banaslap OS**.

Go to the membership plan that should receive access to the Private Drop.

Make sure Private Drops are enabled for that plan if the option is available.

Step 2: Choose the beat

Open the beat you want to release privately.

Before making it private, check that the beat has:

  • a title;
  • artwork;
  • preview audio;
  • license options;
  • prices;
  • downloadable files if needed.

Step 3: Set the beat access to Private Drop

In the beat access settings, choose **Private Drop** or the equivalent private access option.

Assign the beat to the membership plan or plans that should receive access.

If your setup supports dates, define the Private Drop start and end period.

Step 4: Review access rules

Check that only the correct members or plans have access.

Before publishing, confirm:

  • which plan can see the beat;
  • whether the beat has a start date;
  • whether the beat has an end date;
  • whether the beat should stay private after the drop ends;
  • whether the beat should ever become public.

Step 5: Publish or update the beat

Save your changes.

Then open your store as an eligible member and confirm that the beat appears.

Also check the store as a logged-out visitor or non-eligible customer to confirm the beat is hidden.

Step 6: Test the purchase flow

Before announcing the Private Drop:

  1. Log in as an eligible member.
  2. Open the store page.
  3. Confirm the private beat is visible.
  4. Play the preview.
  5. Choose a license.
  6. Add the beat to the cart.
  7. Open checkout.
  8. Confirm the purchase flow works.
  9. Check the customer dashboard after purchase.

Step 7: Announce the drop

Once the Private Drop is tested, announce it to the right audience.

For example:

  • members of a specific plan;
  • VIP customers;
  • previous buyers;
  • private community members;
  • selected artists.

Make the access rules clear so customers understand whether they can access the drop.

Best practices

Use Private Drops for selected releases, not for your entire catalog.

A strong Private Drop should feel exclusive, limited, and intentional.

Before launching, check:

  • the beat is correctly assigned;
  • the right membership plan has access;
  • the license options are correct;
  • the files are attached;
  • the checkout flow works;
  • non-members cannot see the beat.

Troubleshooting

Eligible members cannot see the Private Drop

Check that the beat is assigned to the correct membership plan and that the member has an active plan.

Non-members can see the Private Drop

Check the beat access settings. Make sure the beat is not set to public.

The Private Drop appears but cannot be purchased

Check that the beat has active license options, prices, and Stripe is connected.

The Private Drop disappeared

Check the start and end dates if your setup uses an availability window.

The wrong plan has access

Review the membership plan assignment on the beat and update the access rules.
